Shrewsbury

Cooler over night but a pleasant call from Maddie - at 2.20 am! The view across the reservoir compensated for the coolness.

Had breakfast before setting off for the day in Shrewsbury. Pulled into the northern Park and Ride - a height barrier in place to keeps us out,  but not to be deterred, we took the bus entrance to miss the barrier - a tip from a motorhome forum!

 Shrewsbury
The bus into the city was crowed, as were all the other buses- the Shrewsbury Carnival was on in the city. We visited the castle and the tower (Laura's Tower) overlooking the surround countryside - you can see why they chose this site all those years ago. The castle was situated on an isthmus like    position with the river flowing around the castle.

 Shrewsbury Castle
Shrewsbury is an ancient market town 9 miles from the Welsh border.  Many old half timbered house that appear that they might topple over at any time.

 ... and still more!
Spent a full day wandering the streets before returning to the Park and Ride to  collect the van.

Drove through to Church Stretton and parked up for our over night in a beautiful little Welsh Valley with a stream babbling away just in front of the van - walking tracks lead off in all directions - beautiful, quiet and restful.
