Suffolk Wanderings

Spent the night at a pleasant  stopover at Flatford. Breakfast in the sun with the prospects of another warm day.
We went for an early walk around Flatford Mill path which took us to vantage points over the mill and the very important Stour River - the border of Essex and Suffolk. The lock and the river was vastly important back in the 16th, 17th and 18th Century for the barges - one every couple of minutes - transport bricks one way and coal the other - for the brick works in Suffolk the suppliers of bricks for London - these bricks built the Albert Hall, St Pancras Station, and the refurbishment in the past few years.
We took the guide tour later for the Constable connection with the Stour River and Flatford. Well worthwhile.
Continued our wanderings eastward to the Sutton Hoo - the Anglo-Saxon burial mounds. What a fascinating interpretation of the discoveries unearthed in 1939.
Finished here well after 5.00 pm and drove a couple of miles to our over nigh at Bromeswell.
Sun streaming into our van - 7.00 pm!
